55 relating to the authority of certain political subdivisions to

77 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
88 SECTION 1. Section 41.0052, Election Code, is amended by
99 adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows:
1010 (a-1) The governing body of a political subdivision, other
1111 than a county, that holds its general election for officers on a
1212 date other than the November uniform election date may, not later
1313 than December 31, 2010, change the date on which it holds its
1414 general election for officers to the November uniform election
1515 date.
1616 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1717 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
1818 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
1919 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2020 Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
