| 11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Section 552.275(j), Government Code, is amended | |
| 13 | 13 | to read as follows: | |
| 14 | 14 | (j) This section does not apply if the requestor is a | |
| 15 | 15 | representative of: | |
| 16 | 16 | (1) a radio or television station that holds a license | |
| 17 | 17 | issued by the Federal Communications Commission; [or] | |
| 18 | 18 | (2) a newspaper that: | |
| 19 | 19 | (A) is qualified under Section 2051.044 to | |
| 20 | 20 | publish legal notices; | |
| 21 | 21 | (B) [or] is a free newspaper of general | |
| 22 | 22 | circulation and [that] is published at least once a week and | |
| 23 | 23 | available and of interest to the general public in connection with | |
| 24 | 24 | the dissemination of news; or | |
| 25 | 25 | (C) is a newspaper of general circulation that is | |
| 26 | 26 | published on the Internet by a news medium engaged in the business | |
| 27 | 27 | of disseminating news or information to the public; or | |
| 28 | 28 | (3) a magazine that is published at least once a week | |
| 29 | 29 | or on the Internet by a news medium engaged in the business of | |
| 30 | 30 | disseminating news or information to the general public. | |
| 31 | 31 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
