77 relating to the application of the child support guidelines in a
88 suit affecting the parent-child relationship.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 154.125(a-1), Family Code, is amended
1111 to read as follows:
1212 (a-1) The dollar amount prescribed by Subsection (a) is
1313 adjusted every six years as necessary to reflect inflation. The
1414 Title IV-D agency shall compute the adjusted amount, to take effect
1515 beginning September 1 of the year of the adjustment, based on the
1616 percentage change in the consumer price index during the 72-month
1717 [preceding six-year] period preceding March 1 of the year of the
1818 adjustment [in the consumer price index], as rounded to the nearest
1919 $50 increment. The Title IV-D agency shall publish the adjusted
2020 amount in the Texas Register before September 1 of the year in which
2121 the adjustment takes effect. For purposes of this subsection,
2222 "consumer price index" has the meaning assigned by Section 341.201,
2323 Finance Code.
2424 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
