| 8 | 8 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 9 | 9 | | SECTION 1. Subtitle C, Title 4, Special District Local Laws |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Code, is amended by adding Chapter 3888 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | CHAPTER 3888. SALES TAX REVENUE AUTHORITY FOR BAYTOWN MUNICIPAL |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Sec. 3888.101. DEFINITION. In this chapter, "district" |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | means the Baytown Municipal Development District. |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Sec. 3888.102. SALES TAX REVENUE. Notwithstanding any |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | other law, the district may spend sales tax revenue on the land, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | buildings, equipment, facilities, expenditures, targeted |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | infrastructure, and improvements the governing body of the district |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | finds will promote new or expanded business development in the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | district. |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
