66 relating to the contents of an application for a place on the ballot
77 as a candidate for the legislature.
88 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. Section 141.031(a)(4)(G), Election Code, is
1010 amended to read as follows:
1111 Sec. 141.031. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICATION. (a) A
1212 candidate's application for a place on the ballot that is required
1313 by this code must:
1414 (4) include:
1515 (G) for a candidacy other than a candidacy for
1616 the legislature, a statement that the candidate has not been
1717 finally convicted of a felony from which the candidate has not been
1818 pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disabilities, and
1919 for a candidacy for the legislature, a statements that the
2020 candidate has not been finally convicted of a felony;
2121 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect December 1, 2009, but only
2222 if the constitutional amendment proposed by the 81st Legislature,
2323 Regular Session, 2009, disqualifying felons from service in the
2424 legislature is approved by the voters. If that constitutional
2525 amendment is not approved by the voters, this Act has no effect.
