 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to certain reports related to the cancellation of voter
 registrations.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1. Chapter 16, Election Code, is amended by adding
 Subchapter E to read as follows:
 SUBCHAPTER E.  REPORTS
 Sec. 16.101.  REPORT BY REGISTRAR.  Each registrar shall
 report the registrar's cancellations under this chapter monthly to
 the Secretary of State.
 Sec. 16.102.  REPORT BY SECRETARY OF STATE.  The secretary of
 state shall report all cancellations under this chapter monthly to
 the lieutenant governor, the speaker of the house of
 representatives, the chairmen of the committees of each house of
 the legislature with oversight responsibility for office of
 secretary of state, and the state auditor.
 Sec. 16.103.  TIME FOR MAKING REPORTS.  Each report under
 this subchapter shall be made not later than the fifth day of each
 month and shall report on the cancellations made in the preceding
 month.
 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
 Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
