| 8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Section 6d, Chapter 298, Acts of the 58th | |
| 10 | 10 | Legislature, Regular Session, 1963, is amended by adding subsection | |
| 11 | 11 | (d) to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | (d) The board may employ physicians, dentists, or other | |
| 13 | 13 | health care providers as the board considers necessary for the | |
| 14 | 14 | efficient operation of the district. This subsection may not be | |
| 15 | 15 | construed as authorizing the board to supervise or control the | |
| 16 | 16 | practice of medicine, as prohibited Subtitle B, Title 3, | |
| 17 | 17 | Occupations Code. | |
| 18 | 18 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it received | |
| 19 | 19 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
| 20 | 20 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
| 21 | 21 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
| 22 | 22 | Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
