7 | 7 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
8 | 8 | SECTION 1. Section 28.022(a) is amended to read as follows: | |
9 | 9 | (a) The board of trustees of each school district shall adopt a | |
10 | 10 | policy that: | |
11 | 11 | (1) provides for a conference between parents and | |
12 | 12 | teachers; | |
13 | 13 | (2) requires the district, at least once every 12 | |
14 | 14 | weeks, to give written notice to a parent of a student's performance | |
15 | 15 | in each class or subject and of a student's grade level performance | |
16 | 16 | in reading; and | |
17 | 17 | (3) requires the district, at least once every three | |
18 | 18 | weeks, or during the fourth week of each nine-week grading period, | |
19 | 19 | to give written notice to a parent or legal guardian of a student's | |
20 | 20 | performance in a subject included in the foundation curriculum | |
21 | 21 | under Section 28.002(a)(1) if the student's performance in the | |
22 | 22 | subject is consistently unsatisfactory, as determined by the | |
23 | 23 | district. | |
24 | 24 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2010. |
