| 7 | 7 | | relating to the 39th Judicial District Juvenile Board. |

| 8 | 8 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 9 | 9 | | SECTION 1. Section 152.1101, Human Resources Code, is |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Sec. 152.1101. HASKELL COUNTY. (a) Haskell County is |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | included in the 39th Judicial District Juvenile Board. The |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | juvenile board [of Haskell County] is composed of: |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | (1) the county judge of Haskell County; |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (2) the county judge of Kent County; |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | (3) the county judge of Stonewall County; |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | (4) the county judge of Throckmorton County; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | (5) the 39th Judicial District judge[, the district |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | judges in Haskell County, and the judge of any statutory court |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | designated as a juvenile court]. |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | (b) The juvenile court judge may appoint two public members |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | to serve on the board for a term set by the judge. |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | (c) [(b)] The juvenile board shall elect one of its members |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | as chairman at the beginning of each year. |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | (d) [(c)] The commissioners court of each county shall pay |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | the county judge of that county and the 39th Judicial District judge |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | additional [judges on the board an] annual compensation of [salary |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | set by the commissioners court at] not more than $6,000 [$1,200], |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | payable in equal monthly installments from the general fund or any |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | other available fund of the county, for the added duties imposed on |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | the judges under this section. The public members serve without |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | compensation. |

| 33 | 33 | | [(d) The chief juvenile probation officer may set the |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | salaries and allowances of juvenile probation personnel with the |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | approval of the board.] |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | (e) If approved by the juvenile board, the commissioners |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | court shall reimburse the juvenile court judge for the judge's |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | actual and necessary expenses incurred in attending seminars and |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | other educational or instructional meetings related to juvenile |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | problems. The counties shall prorate the expenses allowed for the |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | members of the juvenile board and for the juvenile court judge. |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | (f) The commissioners court of each county shall jointly |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | provide the necessary funds to pay the salaries of the juvenile |
|---|
| 44 | 44 | | probation personnel in the amount set by the juvenile board. |
|---|
| 45 | 45 | | (g) The commissioners court of each county shall jointly pay |
|---|
| 46 | 46 | | the expenses of the juvenile probation officers that are certified |
|---|
| 47 | 47 | | as necessary by the juvenile board chairman from the general fund |
|---|
| 48 | 48 | | and in the amount set by the juvenile board. |
|---|
| 49 | 49 | | (h) Sections 152.0004 and [Section] 152.0005(b) do [does] |
|---|
| 50 | 50 | | not apply to the juvenile board [of Haskell County]. |

| 51 | 51 | | SECTION 2. Subchapter D, Chapter 152, Human Resources Code, |
|---|
| 52 | 52 | | is amended by adding Section 152.1381 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 53 | 53 | | Sec. 152.1381. KENT COUNTY. (a) Kent County is included in |
|---|
| 54 | 54 | | the 39th Judicial District Juvenile Board. |
|---|
| 55 | 55 | | (b) Section 152.1101 applies to the 39th Judicial District |
|---|
| 56 | 56 | | Juvenile Board. |
|---|
| 57 | 57 | | SECTION 3. Subchapter D, Chapter 152, Human Resources Code, |
|---|
| 58 | 58 | | is amended by adding Section 152.2231 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 59 | 59 | | Sec. 152.2231. STONEWALL COUNTY. (a) Stonewall County is |
|---|
| 60 | 60 | | included in the 39th Judicial District Juvenile Board. |
|---|
| 61 | 61 | | (b) Section 152.1101 applies to the 39th Judicial District |
|---|
| 62 | 62 | | Juvenile Board. |
|---|
| 63 | 63 | | SECTION 4. Sections 152.2301(a) and (b), Human Resources |
|---|
| 64 | 64 | | Code, are amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 65 | 65 | | (a) Throckmorton County is included in the 39th Judicial |
|---|
| 66 | 66 | | District Juvenile Board. [The juvenile board of Throckmorton |
|---|
| 67 | 67 | | County is composed of the county judge, the district judges in |
|---|
| 68 | 68 | | Throckmorton County, and the judge of each statutory court |
|---|
| 69 | 69 | | designated as a juvenile court in the county. The juvenile court |
|---|
| 70 | 70 | | judge may appoint two public members to serve on the board for a |
|---|
| 71 | 71 | | period determined by the juvenile court judge.] |
