| 7 | 7 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 8 | 8 | | SECTION 1. Section 25.0702, Government Code, is amended by |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | adding Subsection (c) to read as follows: |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | (c) The fees assessed in a case in which a county court at |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | law has concurrent civil jurisdiction with the district court are |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | the same as the fees that would be assessed in the district court |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | for that case. |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | to a cause of action filed on or after the effective date of this |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Act. A cause of action filed before the effective date of this Act |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | is governed by the law in effect on the date the cause of action was |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | filed, and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose. |

| 19 | 19 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
