55 relating to the nondisclosure of certain personal information in
66 voter registration records, concealed handgun license records, and
77 tax appraisal records that relates to a justice of the peace.
88 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. Section 13.0021(a)(2), Election Code, is amended
1010 to read as follows:
1111 (2) "State judge" means:
1212 (A) a judge, former judge, or retired judge of an
1313 appellate court, a district court, or a county court at law of this
1414 state; [or]
1515 (B) an associate judge appointed under Chapter
1616 201, Family Code, or a retired associate judge or former associate
1717 judge appointed under that chapter; or
1818 (C) a justice of the peace.
1919 SECTION 2. Section 411.171(4-b), Government Code, is
2020 amended to read as follows:
2121 (4-b) "State judge" means:
2222 (A) the judge of an appellate court, a district
2323 court, or a county court at law of this state; [or]
2424 (B) an associate judge appointed under Chapter
2525 201, Family Code; or
2626 (C) a justice of the peace.
2727 SECTION 3. Section 25.025(a), Tax Code, as amended by
2828 Chapters 594 (H.B. 41), 621 (H.B. 455), and 851 (H.B. 1141), Acts of
2929 the 80th Legislature, Regular Session, 2007, is reenacted and
3030 amended to read as follows:
3131 (a) This section applies only to:
3232 (1) a current or former peace officer as defined by
3333 Article 2.12, Code of Criminal Procedure;
3434 (2) a county jailer as defined by Section 1701.001,
3535 Occupations Code;
3636 (3) an employee of the Texas Department of Criminal
3737 Justice;
3838 (4) a commissioned security officer as defined by
3939 Section 1702.002, Occupations Code;
4040 (5) a victim of family violence as defined by Section
4141 71.004, Family Code, if as a result of the act of family violence
4242 against the victim, the actor is convicted of a felony or a Class A
4343 misdemeanor; [and]
4444 (6) a federal judge or state judge;
4545 (7) [(6)] a current or former employee of a district
4646 attorney, criminal district attorney, or county or municipal
4747 attorney whose jurisdiction includes any criminal law or child
4848 protective services matters; and
4949 (8) [(6)] an officer or employee of a community
5050 supervision and corrections department established under Chapter
5151 76, Government Code, who performs a duty described by Section
5252 76.004(b) of that code.
5353 SECTION 4. Section 25.025(a-1)(2), Tax Code, is amended to
5454 read as follows:
5555 (2) "State judge" means:
5656 (A) a judge, former judge, or retired judge of an
5757 appellate court, a district court, or a county court at law of this
5858 state; [or]
5959 (B) an associate judge appointed under Chapter
6060 201, Family Code, or a retired associate judge or former associate
6161 judge appointed under that chapter; or
6262 (C) a justice of the peace.
6363 SECTION 5. To the extent of any conflict, this Act prevails
6464 over another Act of the 81st Legislature, Regular Session, 2009,
6565 relating to nonsubstantive additions to and corrections in enacted
6666 codes.
6767 SECTION 6. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
