5	5	relating to the nondisclosure of certain personal information in
6	6	voter registration records, concealed handgun license records, and
7	7	tax appraisal records that relates to a justice of the peace.
8	8	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
9	9	SECTION 1. Section 13.0021(a)(2), Election Code, is amended
10	10	to read as follows:
11	11	(2) "State judge" means:
12	12	(A) a judge, former judge, or retired judge of an
13	13	appellate court, a district court, or a county court at law of this
14	14	state; [or]
15	15	(B) an associate judge appointed under Chapter
16	16	201, Family Code, or a retired associate judge or former associate
17	17	judge appointed under that chapter; or
18	18	(C) a justice of the peace.
19	19	SECTION 2. Section 411.171(4-b), Government Code, is
20	20	amended to read as follows:
21	21	(4-b) "State judge" means:
22	22	(A) the judge of an appellate court, a district
23	23	court, or a county court at law of this state; [or]
24	24	(B) an associate judge appointed under Chapter
25	25	201, Family Code; or
26	26	(C) a justice of the peace.
27	27	SECTION 3. Section 25.025(a), Tax Code, as amended by
28	28	Chapters 594 (H.B. 41), 621 (H.B. 455), and 851 (H.B. 1141), Acts of
29	29	the 80th Legislature, Regular Session, 2007, is reenacted and
30	30	amended to read as follows:
31	31	(a) This section applies only to:
32	32	(1) a current or former peace officer as defined by
33	33	Article 2.12, Code of Criminal Procedure;
34	34	(2) a county jailer as defined by Section 1701.001,
35	35	Occupations Code;
36	36	(3) an employee of the Texas Department of Criminal
37	37	Justice;
38	38	(4) a commissioned security officer as defined by
39	39	Section 1702.002, Occupations Code;
40	40	(5) a victim of family violence as defined by Section
41	41	71.004, Family Code, if as a result of the act of family violence
42	42	against the victim, the actor is convicted of a felony or a Class A
43	43	misdemeanor; [and]
44	44	(6) a federal judge or state judge;
45	45	(7) [(6)] a current or former employee of a district
46	46	attorney, criminal district attorney, or county or municipal
47	47	attorney whose jurisdiction includes any criminal law or child
48	48	protective services matters; and
49	49	(8) [(6)] an officer or employee of a community
50	50	supervision and corrections department established under Chapter
51	51	76, Government Code, who performs a duty described by Section
52	52	76.004(b) of that code.
53	53	SECTION 4. Section 25.025(a-1)(2), Tax Code, is amended to
54	54	read as follows:
55	55	(2) "State judge" means:
56	56	(A) a judge, former judge, or retired judge of an
57	57	appellate court, a district court, or a county court at law of this
58	58	state; [or]
59	59	(B) an associate judge appointed under Chapter
60	60	201, Family Code, or a retired associate judge or former associate
61	61	judge appointed under that chapter; or
62	62	(C) a justice of the peace.
63	63	SECTION 5. To the extent of any conflict, this Act prevails
64	64	over another Act of the 81st Legislature, Regular Session, 2009,
65	65	relating to nonsubstantive additions to and corrections in enacted
66	66	codes.
67	67	SECTION 6. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
