77 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
88 SECTION 1. The heading to Section 681.008, Transportation
99 Code, is amended to read as follows:
1010 Sec. 681.008. PARKING PRIVILEGES: CERTAIN VETERANS AND
1111 MILITARY AWARD RECIPIENTS.
1212 SECTION 2. Section 681.008(b), Transportation Code, is
1313 amended to read as follows:
1414 (b) A vehicle on which license plates issued under Section
1515 504.202, [or] Section 504.315(c), (d), (e), (f), or (g), or Section
1616 504.316 are displayed is exempt from the payment of a parking fee
1717 collected through a parking meter charged by a governmental
1818 authority other than a branch of the federal government, when being
1919 operated by or for the transportation of:
2020 (1) the person who registered the vehicle under
2121 Section 504.202(a), [or] Section 504.315(c), (d), (e), (f), or (g),
2222 or Section 504.316; or
2323 (2) a person described in Section 504.202(b) if the
2424 vehicle is registered under that subsection.
2525 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2626 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2727 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2828 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2929 Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
