| 7 | 7 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 8 | 8 | | SECTION 1. The heading to Section 681.008, Transportation |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Code, is amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Sec. 681.008. PARKING PRIVILEGES: CERTAIN VETERANS AND |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | MILITARY AWARD RECIPIENTS. |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | SECTION 2. Section 681.008(b), Transportation Code, is |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | (b) A vehicle on which license plates issued under Section |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | 504.202, [or] Section 504.315(c), (d), (e), (f), or (g), or Section |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | 504.316 are displayed is exempt from the payment of a parking fee |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | collected through a parking meter charged by a governmental |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | authority other than a branch of the federal government, when being |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | operated by or for the transportation of: |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | (1) the person who registered the vehicle under |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Section 504.202(a), [or] Section 504.315(c), (d), (e), (f), or (g), |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | or Section 504.316; or |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | (2) a person described in Section 504.202(b) if the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | vehicle is registered under that subsection. |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
