55 relating to filing a wage claim.
66 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
77 SECTION 1. Sections 61.051(b) and (d), Labor Code, are
88 amended to read as follows:
99 (b) A wage claim must be filed in a manner and [in writing]
1010 on a form prescribed by the commission and must be verified by the
1111 employee.
1212 (d) The employee may file the wage claim:
1313 (1) in person at an office of the commission; [or]
1414 (2) by mailing the claim to an address designated by
1515 the commission;
1616 (3) by faxing the claim to a fax number designated by
1717 the commission; or
1818 (4) by any other means adopted by the commission by
1919 rule.
2020 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only
2121 to a wage claim that is filed with the Texas Workforce Commission on
2222 or after the effective date of this Act. A wage claim filed before
2323 that date is governed by the law in effect on the date that the claim
2424 was filed, and the former law is continued in effect for that
2525 purpose.
2626 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
