55 relating to supplemental payments made to certain statutory probate
66 court judges.
77 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
88 SECTION 1. Section 25.0023, Government Code, is amended by
99 amending Subsection (b) and adding Subsection (c) to read as
1010 follows:
1111 (b) Notwithstanding any other law and in addition to the
1212 judge's annual salary, the commissioners court annually shall pay a
1313 judge of a statutory probate court who has continuously served as a
1414 judge of a statutory probate court or a statutory county court since
1515 August 31, 1995, an additional amount equal to the amount of benefit
1616 replacement pay a district judge is entitled to receive from the
1717 state under Subchapter H, Chapter 659, for equivalent continuous
1818 service [The salary shall be paid in equal monthly installments].
1919 (c) The commissioners court monthly shall pay a statutory
2020 probate court judge who has served as a judge of a statutory probate
2121 court or a statutory county court for at least 16 years longevity
2222 pay in an amount equal to the amount of longevity pay a district
2323 judge is entitled to receive from the state for equivalent years of
2424 service. The longevity pay is in addition to the judge's monthly
2525 salary.
2626 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2727 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2828 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2929 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3030 Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
