55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to a study concerning the establishment of a four-day work
88 week for state employees.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. FOUR-DAY WORK WEEK STUDY. (a) The comptroller
1111 of public accounts shall conduct a study on the establishment of a
1212 four-day work week for state employees.
1313 (b) In conducting the study, the comptroller shall
1414 consider:
1515 (1) the experience of other jurisdictions that have
1616 instituted a four-day work week;
1717 (2) expansion of existing variable work schedule
1818 options for state employees;
1919 (3) potential environmental, financial, and health
2020 benefits of establishing a four-day work week; and
2121 (4) any other information that the comptroller
2222 determines is necessary.
2323 (c) At the comptroller's request, a state agency shall
2424 provide information and assistance in conducting the study under
2525 this section.
2626 (d) Not later than December 10, 2010, the comptroller shall
2727 report the results of the study conducted under this section to the
2828 members and members-elect of the 82nd Legislature.
2929 SECTION 2. EXPIRATION. This Act expires January 1, 2011.
3030 SECTION 3. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act takes effect September
3131 1, 2009.
