The bill would amend Chapter 419, Government Code; Chapter 773, Health and Safety Code; and Chapter 1701, Occupations Code relating to the license or certificate renewal process for fire protection personnel, emergency medical services personnel, and certain law enforcement officers. The bill would take effect on September 1, 2009, but the provisions of the bill would only apply to licenses or certificates renewed on or after January 1, 2011. The Texas Commission of Fire Protection, the Department of State Health Services, and the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education anticipate no significant fiscal impact to their agencies.
