9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Chapter 84, Family Code, is amended by adding | |
11 | 11 | Section 84.006 to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | Sec. 84.006. CONFERRING WITH CHILD. If a party in a | |
13 | 13 | proceeding under this title files a motion requesting the court to | |
14 | 14 | confer with a child who is a member of the family or household for | |
15 | 15 | which protection is sought or on whose behalf the application for a | |
16 | 16 | protective order is made, the court shall confer with the child in | |
17 | 17 | chambers before the hearing on the application for a protective | |
18 | 18 | order. | |
19 | 19 | SECTION 2. Section 84.006, Family Code, as added by this | |
20 | 20 | Act, applies to a hearing on an application for a protective order | |
21 | 21 | held on or after the effective date of this Act, regardless of the | |
22 | 22 | date the application is filed. | |
23 | 23 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
