5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends of Joe Bob Stone of Paris, Texas, |

6 | 6 | | were greatly saddened by his passing on February 2, 2009, at the age |

7 | 7 | | of 92; and |

8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Born on December 17, 1916, in Biardstown, to Tom and |
---|
9 | 9 | | Beulah Harris Stone, "Fess" Stone grew up with the companionship of |
---|
10 | 10 | | four brothers and three sisters; and |
---|
11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, He graduated from Paris High School and East Texas |
---|
12 | 12 | | State Teachers College and built a notable career in education; |
---|
13 | 13 | | over the course of 44 years, Mr. Stone taught math and coached |
---|
14 | 14 | | basketball in Powderly and at other schools in the area and took on |
---|
15 | 15 | | the added responsibility of driving a school bus; and |
---|
16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, In 1948, he was joined in marriage to the former |
---|
17 | 17 | | Alleen Morrison, and the couple shared a fulfilling relationship |
---|
18 | 18 | | that was further enriched by the addition of two children; through |
---|
19 | 19 | | the years, Mr. Stone took great pleasure in welcoming five |
---|
20 | 20 | | grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and seven |
---|
21 | 21 | | great-great-grandchildren into his family; and |
---|
22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, A valued congregant of East Paris Baptist Church, |
---|
23 | 23 | | Fess Stone lived a rewarding life of service to his family and his |
---|
24 | 24 | | community, and he will forever hold a treasured place in the hearts |
---|
25 | 25 | | of those who knew and loved him; now, therefore, be it |
---|
26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas |
---|
27 | 27 | | hereby pay tribute to the life of Joe Bob Stone and extend sincere |
---|
28 | 28 | | sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife of 60 years, |
---|
29 | 29 | | Alleen Stone; to his son, Jimmy Stone, and his wife, Jan; to his |
---|
30 | 30 | | daughter, Norma Upchurch, and her husband, Wayne; to his |
---|
31 | 31 | | grandchildren and their spouses, Clint and Anna Upchurch, Randy and |
---|
32 | 32 | | Marsha Upchurch, Dale and Michelle Upchurch, Lisa and Neal Coleman, |
---|
33 | 33 | | and Joe Robert Stone; to his nine great-grandchildren and seven |
---|
34 | 34 | | great-great-grandchildren; and to his other relatives and friends; |
