| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Renovation of the interchange surrounding the Texas |

| 7 | 7 | | Stadium site in Irving will bring significant benefits to the |

| 8 | 8 | | Greater Dallas area, improving mobility, access, and safety while |

| 9 | 9 | | promoting economic development; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, On October 16, 2008, ground was broken for the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | transportation construction known as the Irving Diamond |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Interchange project; this project will streamline the area's four |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | major thoroughfares, State Highways 183 and 114, Loop 12, and Spur |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | 482, with the Trinity Parkway and the Dallas Area Rapid Transit |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Orange Line, which will reach Las Colinas in 2011 and the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport in 2013; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Enhancements to this busy interchange will mitigate |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | traffic congestion, resulting in better air quality and easier |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | access to the airport, which is served by State Highway 183 in the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | south and State Highway 114 in the north; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Located in the center of the Dallas-Fort Worth |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Metroplex, this interchange is distinguished by exceptional |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | characteristics that combine to form the geographic shape of a |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | diamond and will provide a distinctive and signature landmark for |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | North Texas; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | hereby designate as the Diamond Interchange the interchange |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | surrounding the site of Texas Stadium in Irving and connecting |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | State Highways 183 and 114, Loop 12, and Spur 482 with the Trinity |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Parkway and the Dallas Area Rapid Transit Orange Line; and, be it |

| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the secretary of state forward an official |

| 33 | 33 | | copy of this resolution to the chair of the Texas Transportation |
