5	5	WHEREAS, The Texas Legislature is pleased to recognize April
6	6	7, 2009, as Texas Medal of Arts Awards Day at the State Capitol and
7	7	to commend this year's distinguished award recipients; and
8	8	WHEREAS, Presented by the Texas Cultural Trust, the Texas
9	9	Medal of Arts Awards pay tribute to Texans who have made important
10	10	contributions to a variety of artistic disciplines in the state,
11	11	either through personal achievement or through generous support;
12	12	and
13	13	WHEREAS, Those selected for the 2009 biennial awards are:
14	14	Laura W. Bush, Standing Ovation; Robert Rauschenberg, Lifetime
15	15	Achievement; Lake/Flato Architects, Architecture; James Dick, Arts
16	16	Education; Anheuser-Busch Companies, Corporate Arts Patron; Robert
17	17	Rodriguez, Film; Edith O'Donnell, Individual Arts Patron; Austin
18	18	City Limits, Multimedia; Clint Black, Music; T. R. Fehrenbach,
19	19	Literary Arts; Betty Buckley, Theatre Arts; and Keith Carter,
20	20	Visual Arts; and
21	21	WHEREAS, The arts greatly enhance the quality of life in
22	22	Texas, and the creative individuals and committed patrons being
23	23	honored by the Texas Cultural Trust have contributed immeasurably
24	24	to the rich cultural tapestry of the Lone Star State; now,
25	25	therefore, be it
26	26	RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas
27	27	hereby congratulate the recipients of the 2009 Texas Medal of Arts
28	28	Awards and express deep appreciation for their dedication to the
29	29	advancement of the arts in Texas; and, be it further
30	30	RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be prepared for each
31	31	award winner as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of
32	32	Representatives and Senate.
