| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with many joyful times and |

| 6 | 6 | | meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | of Clyde Helms of Paris, who died on March 8, 2009, at the age of 96; |

| 8 | 8 | | and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Helms was born in Roxton on October 12, 1912, to |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Stange and Minnie Jones Helms; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, He married Iris Rebecca Todd Helms, who preceded him |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | in death in 2008, but the 72 years of marriage that they shared is |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | eloquent affirmation of the meaning of love and commitment; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, For more than three decades, Mr. Helms ran a |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | successful car dealership in Paris, and he enjoyed attending South |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Side Baptist Church where he was a member for many years; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, While his death has brought sorrow to those who |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | cared for him, he will forever hold a treasured place in their |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | hereby pay tribute to the life of Clyde Helms and extend sincere |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | condolences to the members of his family: to his children, Clydell |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Clark and her husband, Steven, Patsy Dunn and her husband, Richard, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Carolyn Dunn and her husband, David, Stanley Helms, and Linda |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Burress and her husband, Joe; to his 20 grandchildren, 18 |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; and to his |

| 27 | 27 | | other relatives and friends; and, be it further |

| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
