| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Ashley Carruth Beal of Midland has been named the |

| 6 | 6 | | 2009-2010 Texas Bluebonnet Queen; and |

| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Founded in 1964, the Texas Bluebonnet Committee |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | promotes the state flower and recognizes young Texans who excel in |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | their talents and in their community service endeavors; the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | daughter of Barry Ashley Beal, Jr., and Cliffy Beal, Ashley Beal is |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | being honored at the 45th Texas Bluebonnet Queen Coronation |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Ceremony; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Beal attended Trinity School of Midland and was |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | involved in various extracurricular activities, including the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Commemorative Air Force Cadet Program and varsity cheerleading; she |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | also participated in the National Youth Leadership Conference and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | was listed in the United States Achievement Academy, and she has |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | dedicated her time to such organizations as the Museum of the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Southwest, Midland Children's Rehabilitation Center, and the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Breaking Bread Soup Kitchen of First Presbyterian Church; in |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | addition, Ms. Beal has been a nationally ranked diver for the past |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | six years, competing with City of Midland Aquatics and at the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | international level with the U.S. Junior Olympic Diving Team; a |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | 2007 National Diving Champion, she received a diving scholarship |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | and now attends Purdue University in Indiana, where she has been |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | chosen as the Diver of the Week; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Ashley Beal has demonstrated a strong commitment to |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | excellence as an athlete, a student, and a volunteer, and she may |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | indeed reflect with pride on her achievements and contributions as |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | she looks toward a bright future; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas |

| 32 | 32 | | hereby congratulate Ashley Carruth Beal on her selection as the |

| 33 | 33 | | 2009-2010 Texas Bluebonnet Queen and extend to her sincere best |
