| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | by a great and enduring love, Duane and Martha Glover of Deport are |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary on April 8, 2009; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Duane Glover and the former Martha Kelsey were |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | united in matrimony in Deport on that special day in 1949; through |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | the years, they have nurtured a fulfilling marriage that has been |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | made even richer with the addition of three children, Marilyn, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Betsy, and David, two grandchildren, Ty and Peyton, and a |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | great-granddaughter, Tatum; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, For many years, Mr. Glover owned and operated a |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Deport pharmacy that he bought from his father and sold to his |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | daughter, Marilyn, when he retired; in addition to running his |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | family business, Mr. Glover was a member of the Deport City Council |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and the local school board, served for many years as the chief of |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | the Deport Volunteer Fire Department, and was a member of the board |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | of directors for McCuistion Regional Medical Center in Paris, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Texas; since retiring, he has had additional time for his hobby of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | gardening and for visiting with his loved ones; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Glover, who holds a degree in business, devoted |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | her attention to her family when the children were young; she served |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | on the Parent-Teacher Organization of Deport School and later |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | worked in family businesses; she has played organ for the First |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | United Methodist Church of Deport since the age of 12 and is a |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | member of the Daughters of the American Revolution; and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past six |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | decades, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant in |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | their commitment to one another, and the strength of their love has |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | enabled them to meet life's challenges with grace and optimism; |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the 81st Texas Legislature hereby |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | congratulate Duane and Martha Glover on the occasion of their 60th |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for |

| 37 | 37 | | continued happiness; and, be it further |
