5	5	WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the sense of loss
6	6	felt by the family and friends of Cory James Galloway of Tyler, who
7	7	died on January 25, 2009, at the age of 23; and
8	8	WHEREAS, A member of the Kilgore Fire Department, Mr.
9	9	Galloway and another firefighter lost their lives in the line of
10	10	duty during a training exercise; and
11	11	WHEREAS, Cory Galloway was born in Lewisville on October 30,
12	12	1985, to Luke Edward Galloway and Regina Ann Griffith Galloway; he
13	13	grew up in Van, where he graduated from Van High School in 2004; and
14	14	WHEREAS, Pursuing his dream of becoming a firefighter, Mr.
15	15	Galloway attended the Kilgore College Fire Academy and earned his
16	16	emergency medical technician basic training certificate from Tyler
17	17	Junior College; he was hired in 2008 as a firefighter and EMT by the
18	18	Kilgore Fire Department, and he took great pride in that
19	19	accomplishment; and
20	20	WHEREAS, Mr. Galloway was a devout Catholic, who was known
21	21	for his quick wit and cheerful and generous spirit; after Hurricane
22	22	Ike, he volunteered to help the Galveston Fire Department; and
23	23	WHEREAS, The firefighters of Texas bravely perform dangerous
24	24	and difficult tasks in the service of their communities, and
25	25	through his hard work and dedication, Cory Galloway had joined that
26	26	elite group of men and women; although he died much too soon, the
27	27	memory of this brave and caring young man will live forever in the
28	28	hearts of all who knew and loved him; now, therefore, be it
29	29	RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas
30	30	hereby pay tribute to the life of Cory James Galloway and extend
31	31	sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his parents,
32	32	Luke and Regina Galloway; to his fiancee, Sarah Hunt; to his
33	33	sisters, Jade Hopson and her husband, Chase, and Caitlin Galloway;
34	34	to his grandparents, Ann Galloway and A. J. and Helen Griffith; to
35	35	his niece, Ava Hopson; to his nephew, Ian Hopson; and to his other
36	36	relatives and friends; and, be it further
37	37	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
38	38	prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
39	39	Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
40	40	Cory James Galloway.
