44 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
55 WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and
66 meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends
77 of Alvis Leo Caldwell of Paris, Texas, who passed away on April 23,
88 2009, at the age of 82; and
99 WHEREAS, Born to Marshall and Georgia Caldwell on June 1,
1010 1926, Leo Caldwell attended Paris High School and Paris Junior
1111 College before graduating from the University of Houston School of
1212 Pharmacy; he answered his nation's call to duty during World War II,
1313 serving in Italy and northern Africa as a member of the U.S. Army; a
1414 practicing pharmacist for many years, he worked in the Margraves
1515 family stores and later owned several drugstores; and
1616 WHEREAS, Mr. Caldwell was fortunate to find love three times
1717 in his life; he was preceded in death by his first wife, the former
1818 Margie Margraves, as well as by his second wife, the former Octavia
1919 Nolan, and he subsequently shared a rewarding marriage with the
2020 former Ione Robinson; he was the proud father of two children,
2121 Deborah and Paul, and welcomed several grandchildren and
2222 great-grandchildren into his family; and
2323 WHEREAS, Dedicated to the Paris community, Mr. Caldwell was a
2424 longtime member of the Noon Lions Club, the Elks Lodge, the Paris
2525 High School Athletics Booster Club, and the Knights of Columbus;
2626 and
2727 WHEREAS, Mr. Caldwell took great pleasure in a variety of
2828 pursuits, including raising Black Angus cattle, riding horses,
2929 golfing, and fishing; moreover, he and his wife, Ione, enjoyed
3030 traveling across the country visiting family and spending time with
3131 their close group of friends; he was beloved by all who knew him for
3232 his playful sense of humor, and he enlivened many an occasion with
3333 his harmonica music; he was further known for his devotion to his
3434 dogs, Sugar and Pepper; and
3535 WHEREAS, Although Leo Caldwell will be deeply missed,
3636 memories of his ready smile and characteristic zest for life will
3737 forever be remembered by all those who held him dear; now,
3838 therefore, be it
3939 RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas
4040 hereby pay tribute to the life of Alvis Leo Caldwell and extend
4141 sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Ione
4242 Robinson Caldwell; to his children, Deborah Perry and her husband,
4343 Tom, and Paul Caldwell and his wife, Loretta; to his grandchildren,
4444 Darrell and Shawn Caldwell, Jeremy and Leslie Davis, Dan and Andrew
4545 Perry, and Emily Hundley; to his great-grandchildren; to his
4646 sisters, Juanita Hudson and Pat Wallace; to his brother-in-law,
4747 Richard Margraves, and his wife, Betty; and to his other relatives
4848 and many friends; and, be it further
4949 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
5050 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
5151 Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
5252 Alvis Leo Caldwell.
