4	4	HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
5	5	WHEREAS, Ralph Parr is stepping down from the Clear Creek
6	6	Independent School District Board of Trustees in May 2009, after
7	7	four outstanding terms as a member of that body; and
8	8	WHEREAS, Mr. Parr began his association with the CCISD as a
9	9	youngster: he attended schools in the district from the first grade
10	10	on and graduated from Webster High School in 1954; after college, he
11	11	returned to devote 33 years to the district as a teacher and
12	12	administrator; during that time, he taught English and journalism
13	13	at Clear Creek High School for 11 years, served as an assistant
14	14	principal at Clear Lake High School for 11 years, and then accepted
15	15	the post of principal at Clear Creek High School, where he served
16	16	another 11 years before retiring in 1994; and
17	17	WHEREAS, Mr. Parr ran successfully for the CCISD school board
18	18	in 1996 and was subsequently reelected three times; his deep
19	19	experience, exceptional knowledge of the district, and passionate
20	20	commitment to providing the best possible education to every child,
21	21	regardless of his or her background, have helped the district to
22	22	achieve a "recognized" ranking by the Texas Education Agency; and
23	23	WHEREAS, In recognition of all that Ralph Parr has done for
24	24	the district over the years, a new elementary school in League City
25	25	has recently been named in his honor; and
26	26	WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan is the husband of Claudia Parr
27	27	and father of Richard Parr; with his latest retirement, he will now
28	28	have more time for the travel that he and his wife so enjoy; Mr. Parr
29	29	is also an avid reader and sports fan and an ardent supporter of the
30	30	Clear Creek Wildcats; moreover, he is a valued member of the ROMEOs,
31	31	whose fanciful acronym stands for Retired Old Men Eating Out; and
32	32	WHEREAS, Ralph Parr has dedicated a lifetime to equipping
33	33	students with the skills they will need to help them build
34	34	fulfilling and productive lives, and it is indeed a privilege to
35	35	recognize him for his immeasurable service to the League City
36	36	community and beyond; now, therefore, be it
37	37	RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas
38	38	hereby honor Ralph Parr on the occasion of his retirement from the
39	39	Clear Creek Independent School District and extend to him sincere
40	40	best wishes as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life;
41	41	and, be it further
42	42	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
43	43	prepared for Mr. Parr as an expression of high regard by the Texas
44	44	House of Representatives and Senate.
