 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
 WHEREAS, The Brady World Championship BBQ Goat Cook-off has
 distinguished itself as the premier competition of its kind in the
 Lone Star State; and
 WHEREAS, A beloved and longstanding Texas tradition, the
 Brady cook-off has been in existence for 36 years and has become an
 integral part of the history and identity of the community of Brady;
 and
 WHEREAS, This well-known gathering of barbecue enthusiasts
 draws as many as 175 cooking teams each year, making it a
 spectacular showcase of Lone Star fare; and
 WHEREAS, Famous across the State of Texas and beyond, the
 Brady World Championship BBQ Goat Cook-off has drawn visitors from
 all 50 states as well as many European nations; and
 WHEREAS, Highly regarded as an outstanding example of our
 state's distinctive culture and cuisine, the cook-off has been
 featured on the Food Network and was one of only two events to earn a
 spot on the Texas Monthly list of the "75 Things We Love About
 Texas"; and
 WHEREAS, The popularity of this treasured tradition is such
 that area hotels are filled to capacity for the dates surrounding
 the cook-off, and it has become a significant contributor to the
 local economy; and
 WHEREAS, On each Labor Day weekend since 1973, thousands of
 people have gathered in Brady for the World Championship BBQ Goat
 Cook-off, and the history and renown of this event should be duly
 honored with official legislative recognition; now, therefore, be
 it
 RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas
 hereby designate the Brady World Championship BBQ Goat Cook-off as
 the official Texas State Goat Barbecue Championship Cook-off.
