5	5	WHEREAS, The Brady World Championship BBQ Goat Cook-off has
6	6	distinguished itself as the premier competition of its kind in the
7	7	Lone Star State; and
8	8	WHEREAS, A beloved and longstanding Texas tradition, the
9	9	Brady cook-off has been in existence for 36 years and has become an
10	10	integral part of the history and identity of the community of Brady;
11	11	and
12	12	WHEREAS, This well-known gathering of barbecue enthusiasts
13	13	draws as many as 175 cooking teams each year, making it a
14	14	spectacular showcase of Lone Star fare; and
15	15	WHEREAS, Famous across the State of Texas and beyond, the
16	16	Brady World Championship BBQ Goat Cook-off has drawn visitors from
17	17	all 50 states as well as many European nations; and
18	18	WHEREAS, Highly regarded as an outstanding example of our
19	19	state's distinctive culture and cuisine, the cook-off has been
20	20	featured on the Food Network and was one of only two events to earn a
21	21	spot on the Texas Monthly list of the "75 Things We Love About
22	22	Texas"; and
23	23	WHEREAS, The popularity of this treasured tradition is such
24	24	that area hotels are filled to capacity for the dates surrounding
25	25	the cook-off, and it has become a significant contributor to the
26	26	local economy; and
27	27	WHEREAS, On each Labor Day weekend since 1973, thousands of
28	28	people have gathered in Brady for the World Championship BBQ Goat
29	29	Cook-off, and the history and renown of this event should be duly
30	30	honored with official legislative recognition; now, therefore, be
31	31	it
32	32	RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas
33	33	hereby designate the Brady World Championship BBQ Goat Cook-off as
34	34	the official Texas State Goat Barbecue Championship Cook-off.
