5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends were greatly saddened by the loss |

6 | 6 | | of Marguerite Stone Butler of Paris, Texas, who passed away on May |
---|
7 | 7 | | 15, 2009, at the age of 81; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The firstborn child of W. L. and Estelle Stone and |
---|
9 | 9 | | sister to Jackie, Marguerite Stone was born on September 14, 1927, |
---|
10 | 10 | | in Lamar County; soon after her graduation from Deport High School |
---|
11 | 11 | | in 1944, she married her high school sweetheart, Ulysses Ray |
---|
12 | 12 | | Butler, and they became the parents of two daughters, Kathy and |
---|
13 | 13 | | Linda; Mrs. Butler later experienced the joy of welcoming a |
---|
14 | 14 | | grandchild into her family; and |
---|
15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, In the early 1950s, Mrs. Butler began a "short-term" |
---|
16 | 16 | | job with Westinghouse that eventually spanned more than three |
---|
17 | 17 | | decades; in addition to her myriad family and work |
---|
18 | 18 | | responsibilities, she shared her time and resources with Immanuel |
---|
19 | 19 | | Baptist Church as a teacher of youth and women's Sunday school |
---|
20 | 20 | | classes and was an active participant in a number of ministries; she |
---|
21 | 21 | | also found pleasure in arts and crafts as a floral designer, |
---|
22 | 22 | | seamstress, gardener, and oil painter; and |
---|
23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Marguerite Butler led a life rich in creativity and |
---|
24 | 24 | | meaningful service, and she will be deeply missed by all those who |
---|
25 | 25 | | held her dear; now, therefore, be it |
---|
26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas |
---|
27 | 27 | | hereby pay tribute to the life of Marguerite Stone Butler and extend |
---|
28 | 28 | | sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her daughter |
---|
29 | 29 | | and son-in-law, Kathy and Ray Guy; to her grandson, Aaron Butler |
---|
30 | 30 | | Hopcus; to her sister, Jackie Alsobrook; to her brothers-in-law and |
---|
31 | 31 | | their spouses, Virgil and Anita Butler and Bill and Martha Butler; |
---|
32 | 32 | | to her sister-in-law, Maxine Lee; and to her many other relatives |
