44 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
55 WHEREAS, Family and friends were greatly saddened by the loss
66 of Marguerite Stone Butler of Paris, Texas, who passed away on May
77 15, 2009, at the age of 81; and
88 WHEREAS, The firstborn child of W. L. and Estelle Stone and
99 sister to Jackie, Marguerite Stone was born on September 14, 1927,
1010 in Lamar County; soon after her graduation from Deport High School
1111 in 1944, she married her high school sweetheart, Ulysses Ray
1212 Butler, and they became the parents of two daughters, Kathy and
1313 Linda; Mrs. Butler later experienced the joy of welcoming a
1414 grandchild into her family; and
1515 WHEREAS, In the early 1950s, Mrs. Butler began a "short-term"
1616 job with Westinghouse that eventually spanned more than three
1717 decades; in addition to her myriad family and work
1818 responsibilities, she shared her time and resources with Immanuel
1919 Baptist Church as a teacher of youth and women's Sunday school
2020 classes and was an active participant in a number of ministries; she
2121 also found pleasure in arts and crafts as a floral designer,
2222 seamstress, gardener, and oil painter; and
2323 WHEREAS, Marguerite Butler led a life rich in creativity and
2424 meaningful service, and she will be deeply missed by all those who
2525 held her dear; now, therefore, be it
2626 RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas
2727 hereby pay tribute to the life of Marguerite Stone Butler and extend
2828 sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her daughter
2929 and son-in-law, Kathy and Ray Guy; to her grandson, Aaron Butler
3030 Hopcus; to her sister, Jackie Alsobrook; to her brothers-in-law and
3131 their spouses, Virgil and Anita Butler and Bill and Martha Butler;
3232 to her sister-in-law, Maxine Lee; and to her many other relatives
3333 and friends; and, be it further
3434 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3535 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
3636 Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
3737 Marguerite Stone Butler.
