| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Friends and family are mourning the loss of Charlene |

| 6 | 6 | | Champion of Paris, Texas, who passed away on May 21, 2009, at the |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | age of 84; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The former Charlene Stevens was born on January 14, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | 1925, to Butler and Iva Ladymon Stevens in the community of East |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Post Oak; she graduated from Blossom High School and attended Paris |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Junior College, and she taught in the East Post Oak schools during |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | World War II; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, She was joined in matrimony to Clyde Champion in |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | 1946, and the couple enjoyed a rewarding relationship until Mr. |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Champion passed away; Mrs. Champion worked at First City National |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Bank for 35 years and was actively engaged in her community, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | teaching Sunday school classes at the First Baptist Church of |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Paris, volunteering at St. Joseph's Hospital and Paris Regional |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Medical Center, and helping charter the Paris Kiwanianne Club; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Although Charlene Champion is deeply missed, her |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | loved ones may take comfort in their many fond memories of the happy |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | times they spent in her company; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | hereby pay tribute to the life of Charlene Champion and extend |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her brother, Glen |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Stevens, and his wife, Ina; to her niece, Eleni Brooks; to her |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | great-niece, Anna Machen and her father, John; and to her other |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | relatives and many friends; and, be it further |

| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
