No. 42 CONCURRENT RESOLUTION WHEREAS, Members of the League City Chamber of Commerce and its legislative committee are visiting the State Capitol on February 17, 2009, and their visit provides a fitting opportunity to recognize the achievements of these outstanding civic leaders; and WHEREAS, With close proximity to Houston, League City residents enjoy the best of both rural and urban life; the region boasts outstanding schools and access to a host of recreational opportunities; and WHEREAS, The League City Chamber of Commerce has greatly benefited the city through economic and community development programs, and it is working successfully to promote growth and advancement in the area; in addition to supporting a host of local organizations, the group offers a number of programs and services, including an annual Fall Business Expo, information resources, and a task force to address future development of the historic district and waterfront areas; and WHEREAS, This notable organization has also established a legislative committee in an effort to express the needs of League City businesses and residents to Texas legislators; and WHEREAS, The League City Chamber of Commerce has been a driving force in fostering enhanced educational opportunities, infrastructure improvements, leadership development, and job creation, and its positive vision for the future is significantly enhancing the quality of life for League City residents; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas hereby welcome the League City Chamber of Commerce and its legislative committee to the State Capitol and commend all those associated with the group for their dedicated service to their community; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the chamber of commerce as an expression of high regard from the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
