| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Members of the League City Chamber of Commerce and |

| 6 | 6 | | its legislative committee are visiting the State Capitol on |

| 7 | 7 | | February 17, 2009, and their visit provides a fitting opportunity |

| 8 | 8 | | to recognize the achievements of these outstanding civic leaders; |

|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, With close proximity to Houston, League City |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | residents enjoy the best of both rural and urban life; the region |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | boasts outstanding schools and access to a host of recreational |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | opportunities; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, The League City Chamber of Commerce has greatly |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | benefited the city through economic and community development |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | programs, and it is working successfully to promote growth and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | advancement in the area; in addition to supporting a host of local |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | organizations, the group offers a number of programs and services, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | including an annual Fall Business Expo, information resources, and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | a task force to address future development of the historic district |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | and waterfront areas; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, This notable organization has also established a |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | legislative committee in an effort to express the needs of League |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | City businesses and residents to Texas legislators; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, The League City Chamber of Commerce has been a |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | driving force in fostering enhanced educational opportunities, |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | infrastructure improvements, leadership development, and job |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | creation, and its positive vision for the future is significantly |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | enhancing the quality of life for League City residents; now, |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | therefore, be it |

| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas |

| 32 | 32 | | hereby welcome the League City Chamber of Commerce and its |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | legislative committee to the State Capitol and commend all those |

| 34 | 34 | | associated with the group for their dedicated service to their |
|---|
