44 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
55 WHEREAS, With the passing of Frances Virginia Reeves Lowrey
66 on January 2, 2009, at the age of 95, the residents of Paris, Texas,
77 lost a beloved neighbor and friend; and
88 WHEREAS, Born in the Jennings community in southeast Lamar
99 County on December 16, 1913, "Jennie" Reeves graduated from Paris
1010 High School and went on to earn the admiration of her colleagues at
1111 Bell Telephone Company and Foxworth-Galbraith Lumber Company over
1212 the course of her working years; and
1313 WHEREAS, She married Phil Lee in 1946 and was widowed just
1414 four years later; fortunate to find love a second time, she was
1515 joined in matrimony to E. L. "Buster" Lowrey, with whom she enjoyed
1616 a rewarding marriage until his passing; and
1717 WHEREAS, An avid gardener, Mrs. Lowrey helped to charter the
1818 Twilight Tillers Garden Club and also played an active role with the
1919 Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and Covenant Christian Church; and
2020 WHEREAS, This sweet-natured woman enriched the lives of
2121 others through her kindness and generosity, and she will forever
2222 hold a treasured place in the hearts of the many people who
2323 benefited from her love and friendship; now, therefore, be it
2424 RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas
2525 hereby pay tribute to the life of Frances Virginia Reeves Lowrey and
2626 extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her
2727 sister-in-law, Dorothy Reeves; to her stepson, Lynn Lowrey, and his
2828 wife, Joy; to her nephew, Eddie Reeves, and his wife, Judy; to her
2929 niece, Kay Hill, and her husband, T. J.; to her great-nephews and
3030 great-nieces and their spouses, Shawn and Michelle Reeves, Shannon
3131 and Susan Reeves, Steve and Linda Hill, Jeff Hill, Toni and Chad
3232 Long, and Kim and Ralph Poteet; to her great-great-nephews and
3333 great-great-nieces, Lauren, Cory, Jackson, Julie-Kate, and Ellie
3434 Reeves, Wesley and Finley Hill, Taylor Poteet, and Zachary Long; to
3535 her longtime friends, Margie McKee and Doris Parks; and to all those
3636 mourning the loss of this cherished woman; and, be it further
3737 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3838 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
3939 Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
4040 Frances Virginia Reeves Lowrey.
