 CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
 WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Leslie
 Nix of Clarksville, who died on January 28, 2009, at the age of 51;
 and
 WHEREAS, Leslie Nix was born on March 1, 1957, in Butte,
 Montana, to Jim and Dorothy Favors Power; and
 WHEREAS, For 18 years, Ms. Nix served as the tax
 assessor-collector of Red River County, and the trust and respect
 she earned from area residents was demonstrated by her reelection
 to that office time and again; and
 WHEREAS, A member of First Baptist Church, Ms. Nix was
 strengthened by her faith, and she strengthened the faith of those
 around her; and
 WHEREAS, Although she was taken far too soon, Leslie Nix
 leaves behind a legacy of serenity, wisdom, and compassion that
 will long resonate in the lives of her loved ones; now, therefore,
 be it
 RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas
 hereby pay tribute to the life of Leslie Nix and extend sincere
 condolences to the members of her family: to her husband, David Nix;
 to her parents, Jim and Dorothy Power; to her son, Brandon Nix, and
 his wife, Tami; to her daughters, Ashlyn Nix and Alisha Rhoades and
 her husband, Sean; to her grandchildren, Presley Rhoades, Luke
 Rhoades, Chance Rhoades, and Kora Nix; to her sister, Vickie
 Powell, and her husband, Bobby; and to her other relatives and
 friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
 Leslie Nix.
