44 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
55 WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Leslie
66 Nix of Clarksville, who died on January 28, 2009, at the age of 51;
77 and
88 WHEREAS, Leslie Nix was born on March 1, 1957, in Butte,
99 Montana, to Jim and Dorothy Favors Power; and
1010 WHEREAS, For 18 years, Ms. Nix served as the tax
1111 assessor-collector of Red River County, and the trust and respect
1212 she earned from area residents was demonstrated by her reelection
1313 to that office time and again; and
1414 WHEREAS, A member of First Baptist Church, Ms. Nix was
1515 strengthened by her faith, and she strengthened the faith of those
1616 around her; and
1717 WHEREAS, Although she was taken far too soon, Leslie Nix
1818 leaves behind a legacy of serenity, wisdom, and compassion that
1919 will long resonate in the lives of her loved ones; now, therefore,
2020 be it
2121 RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas
2222 hereby pay tribute to the life of Leslie Nix and extend sincere
2323 condolences to the members of her family: to her husband, David Nix;
2424 to her parents, Jim and Dorothy Power; to her son, Brandon Nix, and
2525 his wife, Tami; to her daughters, Ashlyn Nix and Alisha Rhoades and
2626 her husband, Sean; to her grandchildren, Presley Rhoades, Luke
2727 Rhoades, Chance Rhoades, and Kora Nix; to her sister, Vickie
2828 Powell, and her husband, Bobby; and to her other relatives and
2929 friends; and, be it further
3030 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3131 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
3232 Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
3333 Leslie Nix.
