| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Leslie |

| 6 | 6 | | Nix of Clarksville, who died on January 28, 2009, at the age of 51; |

| 7 | 7 | | and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Leslie Nix was born on March 1, 1957, in Butte, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Montana, to Jim and Dorothy Favors Power; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, For 18 years, Ms. Nix served as the tax |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | assessor-collector of Red River County, and the trust and respect |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | she earned from area residents was demonstrated by her reelection |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | to that office time and again; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, A member of First Baptist Church, Ms. Nix was |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | strengthened by her faith, and she strengthened the faith of those |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | around her; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Although she was taken far too soon, Leslie Nix |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | leaves behind a legacy of serenity, wisdom, and compassion that |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | will long resonate in the lives of her loved ones; now, therefore, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | be it |

| 21 | 21 | | RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas |

| 22 | 22 | | hereby pay tribute to the life of Leslie Nix and extend sincere |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | condolences to the members of her family: to her husband, David Nix; |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | to her parents, Jim and Dorothy Power; to her son, Brandon Nix, and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | his wife, Tami; to her daughters, Ashlyn Nix and Alisha Rhoades and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | her husband, Sean; to her grandchildren, Presley Rhoades, Luke |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Rhoades, Chance Rhoades, and Kora Nix; to her sister, Vickie |

| 28 | 28 | | Powell, and her husband, Bobby; and to her other relatives and |
