| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Hamilton Park Pacesetter Magnet School in Dallas was |

| 6 | 6 | | awarded "Recognized" status by the Texas Education Agency in 2008; |

| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, To ensure that all students in Texas benefit from |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | the highest standards of education, the TEA instituted an |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | accountability rating system for the state's public schools and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | districts; a campus gains "Recognized" status if 75 percent of its |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | students pass each of the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | subject area tests, and in 2008, only 34 percent of all schools |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | earned this notable distinction; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, An elementary school within the Richardson |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Independent School District, Hamilton Park Pacesetter Magnet |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | serves approximately 660 students in prekindergarten through the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | sixth grade; the school provides an innovative, research-based |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | scholastic program that emphasizes positive cultural interaction |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | and challenges students in both cooperative and independent |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | settings; skillfully led by principal Megan Timme and assistant |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | principal Kay Simms, the faculty members strive to meet the needs of |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | all students by identifying and building on their individual |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | strengths; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, The teachers and students of Hamilton Park |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Pacesetter Magnet have demonstrated outstanding dedication and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | perseverance in their pursuit of academic excellence, and they may |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | indeed take justifiable pride in the accolade their school has |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | received from the State of Texas; now, therefore, be it |

| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 31 | 31 | | Legislature hereby honor Hamilton Park Pacesetter Magnet School on |

| 32 | 32 | | its achievement of a "Recognized" rating from the Texas Education |

| 33 | 33 | | Agency in 2008 and extend to its students, teachers, and staff |
