44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Hamilton Park Pacesetter Magnet School in Dallas was
66 awarded "Recognized" status by the Texas Education Agency in 2008;

88 WHEREAS, To ensure that all students in Texas benefit from
99 the highest standards of education, the TEA instituted an
1010 accountability rating system for the state's public schools and
1111 districts; a campus gains "Recognized" status if 75 percent of its
1212 students pass each of the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills
1313 subject area tests, and in 2008, only 34 percent of all schools
1414 earned this notable distinction; and
1515 WHEREAS, An elementary school within the Richardson
1616 Independent School District, Hamilton Park Pacesetter Magnet
1717 serves approximately 660 students in prekindergarten through the
1818 sixth grade; the school provides an innovative, research-based
1919 scholastic program that emphasizes positive cultural interaction
2020 and challenges students in both cooperative and independent
2121 settings; skillfully led by principal Megan Timme and assistant
2222 principal Kay Simms, the faculty members strive to meet the needs of
2323 all students by identifying and building on their individual
2424 strengths; and
2525 WHEREAS, The teachers and students of Hamilton Park
2626 Pacesetter Magnet have demonstrated outstanding dedication and
2727 perseverance in their pursuit of academic excellence, and they may
2828 indeed take justifiable pride in the accolade their school has
2929 received from the State of Texas; now, therefore, be it
3030 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
3131 Legislature hereby honor Hamilton Park Pacesetter Magnet School on
3232 its achievement of a "Recognized" rating from the Texas Education
3333 Agency in 2008 and extend to its students, teachers, and staff
3434 sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
3535 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3636 prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3737 House of Representatives.
