44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Carolyn G. Bukhair Elementary School in Dallas was
66 awarded "Recognized" status by the Texas Education Agency in 2008;

88 WHEREAS, To ensure that all students in Texas benefit from
99 the highest standards of education, the TEA instituted an
1010 accountability rating system for the state's public schools and
1111 districts; a campus gains "Recognized" status if 75 percent of its
1212 students pass each of the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills
1313 subject area tests, and in 2008, only 34 percent of all schools
1414 earned this notable distinction; and
1515 WHEREAS, One of 41 elementary schools in the Richardson
1616 Independent School District, Carolyn G. Bukhair Elementary serves
1717 690 students in the first through sixth grades, and it is skillfully
1818 led by principal Candace Judd and assistant principal Melinda
1919 Schwartz; operating under its core values, the school presents a
2020 challenging academic program that recognizes diversity and
2121 involves every staff member in the education of each child, and it
2222 builds a lasting partnership with parents and the community as a
2323 whole; and
2424 WHEREAS, The teachers and students of Carolyn G. Bukhair
2525 Elementary have demonstrated outstanding dedication and
2626 perseverance in their pursuit of academic excellence, and they may
2727 indeed take justifiable pride in the accolade their school has
2828 received from the State of Texas; now, therefore, be it
2929 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
3030 Legislature hereby honor Carolyn G. Bukhair Elementary School on
3131 its achievement of a "Recognized" rating from the Texas Education
3232 Agency in 2008 and extend to its students, teachers, and staff
3333 sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
3434 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3535 prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3636 House of Representatives.
