| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Sally Van Dyke has been named 2008 Woman of the Year |

| 6 | 6 | | by the Washington County Chamber of Commerce/Economic Development |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Foundation; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The Woman of the Year award was created in 1968 to |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | honor Washington County citizens who have made significant |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | contributions to their community, and Ms. Van Dyke has long been |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | committed to improving, developing, and enriching the lives of |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | others; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, A longtime Girl Scout leader, Ms. Van Dyke is a life |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | member of the Heritage Society of Washington County and has helped |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | to place more than 200 historic plaques in the area; in addition, |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | she has served on the Brenham school board for 14 years and helped |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | to restore the town's antique carousel; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Sally Van Dyke's efforts have made her truly worthy |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | of the recognition bestowed on her by her community, and it is a |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | pleasure to honor her at this time; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Sally Van Dyke on being named 2008 |

| 23 | 23 | | Woman of the Year by the Washington County Chamber of |

| 24 | 24 | | Commerce/Economic Development Foundation and commend her for her |

| 25 | 25 | | dedication and service to her fellow residents; and, be it further |
