H.R. No. 1040
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Mike Hopkins has been named 2008 Man of the Year by
the Washington County Chamber of Commerce/Economic Development
Foundation; and
WHEREAS, The Man of the Year award was created in 1968 to
honor Washington County citizens who have made significant
contributions to their community, and Mr. Hopkins has long been
committed to improving, developing, and enriching the lives of
others; and
WHEREAS, This notable Texan is the owner of Mike Hopkins
Distributing, through which he donated property for Washington
County's new Emergency Medical Services facility; a valued resident
of Brenham for more than 20 years, he is a founding member of the
Texas Lyceum; he has also supported such worthwhile initiatives as
Maifest and the Washington County Fair; and
WHEREAS, The efforts of Mike Hopkins have made him truly
worthy of the recognition bestowed on him by his community, and it
is a pleasure to honor him at this time; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Mike Hopkins on being named 2008
Man of the Year by the Washington County Chamber of
Commerce/Economic Development Foundation and commend him for his
dedication and service to his fellow residents; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Hopkins as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
