| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Mike Hopkins has been named 2008 Man of the Year by |

| 6 | 6 | | the Washington County Chamber of Commerce/Economic Development |

| 7 | 7 | | Foundation; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The Man of the Year award was created in 1968 to |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | honor Washington County citizens who have made significant |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | contributions to their community, and Mr. Hopkins has long been |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | committed to improving, developing, and enriching the lives of |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | others; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, This notable Texan is the owner of Mike Hopkins |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Distributing, through which he donated property for Washington |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | County's new Emergency Medical Services facility; a valued resident |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | of Brenham for more than 20 years, he is a founding member of the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Texas Lyceum; he has also supported such worthwhile initiatives as |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Maifest and the Washington County Fair; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, The efforts of Mike Hopkins have made him truly |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | worthy of the recognition bestowed on him by his community, and it |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | is a pleasure to honor him at this time; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 23 | 23 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Mike Hopkins on being named 2008 |

| 24 | 24 | | Man of the Year by the Washington County Chamber of |

| 25 | 25 | | Commerce/Economic Development Foundation and commend him for his |
