 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Wildcatter Ranch Resort and Spa in Graham joined
 with the Wounded Warrior Project in February 2009 to host a retreat
 for veterans; and
 WHEREAS, Founded in 2007, the Wounded Warrior Project is a
 nonprofit organization that assists members of the military who
 have been severely injured while serving their country; through its
 Project Odyssey program, the organization sponsors retreats that
 offer therapeutic recreational experiences in a healing natural
 environment; counselors provide private and group counseling
 during the program and help veterans learn coping skills to manage
 posttraumatic stress disorder, which affects many of those
 returning from combat in Iraq and Afghanistan; and
 WHEREAS, Wildcatter Ranch closed to the public for a week in
 order to welcome 15 veterans who struggle with PTSD and other
 challenges; while in Graham, these individuals enjoyed such
 activities as horseback riding, canoeing, fishing, and a lesson in
 bull riding; in addition, they were welcomed by students at
 Woodland Elementary School and took part in a traditional healing
 ritual performed by members of the Eastern Shoshone Nation; over
 the course of their stay at this award-winning resort, participants
 in Project Odyssey were able to benefit from the support and
 camaraderie of fellow veterans who share their issues and concerns;
 and
 WHEREAS, The February 2009 Project Odyssey retreat was the
 second such event at Wildcatter Ranch, and the proprietors and
 staff have shown admirable generosity and appreciation to those who
 have made enormous sacrifices for our country; now, therefore, be
 it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby commend the owners and staff of Wildcatter Ranch
 Resort and Spa for hosting the Wounded Warrior Project Odyssey
 retreat and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued
 success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Wildcatter Ranch as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
