No. 1043 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Georgetown police officer Erik Grasse exhibited swift and decisive judgment in an emergency, and his actions contributed to the successful rescue of a local citizen in extreme peril; and WHEREAS, Officer Grasse joined fellow officer Jason Chaudoin in responding to a report of an accident in Sun City; arriving at the scene, they found a car submerged in a pond, with just its trunk visible above the surface of the water; both officers dove in, and Officer Grasse was able to open the passenger door, pull the driver from the vehicle, and take her to safety on the bank of the pond; meanwhile, Officer Chaudoin searched for other occupants, though fortunately, there had been no one else in the car; and WHEREAS, Thanks to the intervention of these two policemen, the driver suffered no serious injuries, and she was treated and released at the scene; Officer Grasse's role in the incident was all the more impressive because he was off duty at the time of the call but did not hesitate to respond immediately when there was a report of a person in grave danger; and WHEREAS, This valiant Texan is a tremendous asset to the citizens of Georgetown, and he is truly deserving of special recognition for his exemplary actions; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby honor Officer Erik Grasse of the Georgetown Police Department for his role in saving a woman from drowning and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Officer Grasse as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
