| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Georgetown police officer Erik Grasse exhibited |

| 6 | 6 | | swift and decisive judgment in an emergency, and his actions |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | contributed to the successful rescue of a local citizen in extreme |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | peril; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Officer Grasse joined fellow officer Jason Chaudoin |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | in responding to a report of an accident in Sun City; arriving at |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | the scene, they found a car submerged in a pond, with just its trunk |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | visible above the surface of the water; both officers dove in, and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Officer Grasse was able to open the passenger door, pull the driver |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | from the vehicle, and take her to safety on the bank of the pond; |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | meanwhile, Officer Chaudoin searched for other occupants, though |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | fortunately, there had been no one else in the car; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Thanks to the intervention of these two policemen, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | the driver suffered no serious injuries, and she was treated and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | released at the scene; Officer Grasse's role in the incident was all |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | the more impressive because he was off duty at the time of the call |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | but did not hesitate to respond immediately when there was a report |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | of a person in grave danger; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, This valiant Texan is a tremendous asset to the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | citizens of Georgetown, and he is truly deserving of special |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | recognition for his exemplary actions; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature hereby honor Officer Erik Grasse of the Georgetown |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Police Department for his role in saving a woman from drowning and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |

| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
