| 8 | 8 | | Relations Association; and |

| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, At the 2009 convention of the nonprofit TSPRA, 900 |

| 10 | 10 | | entries in 35 categories were submitted by communications |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | professionals across the state for the annual Star Awards, and the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | talented staff of Pasadena ISD came away with an impressive 11 Gold |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Star Awards and two Best of Category awards; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, District personnel Bruce Stone and LaVonna |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Alexander-Carew won two Gold Stars and two Best of Category awards |

| 16 | 16 | | for designing the "Heroes" marketing mailer and a child nutrition |

| 17 | 17 | | calendar, while Ms. Carew earned another Gold Star for her design of |

| 18 | 18 | | the district's Winter Concert program; Mark Kramer received a Gold |

| 19 | 19 | | Star for his work on the Pinnacle newsletter, and Mr. Kramer, Mr. |

| 20 | 20 | | Stone, and Candace Ahlfinger won a Gold Star for their "Financial |

| 21 | 21 | | Focus for Student Success" brochure; and |

| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Ashley Holt won two Gold Stars in the writing and |

| 23 | 23 | | published news categories, while Ms. Ahlfinger, Mr. Kramer, Mr. |

| 24 | 24 | | Stone, Ms. Carew, and Ms. Holt won a Gold Star in the booklet |

| 25 | 25 | | category for the "Heroes" mailer; Mr. Stone and Cindy Parmer |

| 26 | 26 | | received Gold Stars for the Pasadena ISD Education Foundation's |

| 27 | 27 | | Shining Stars Gala booklet and the Education Foundation's website; |

| 32 | 32 | | WHEREAS, With the expert support of the district's printing |

| 33 | 33 | | staff, the communications professionals of the Pasadena ISD do an |

| 34 | 34 | | excellent job of serving the local community; they have |

| 35 | 35 | | distinguished themselves as writers, editors, and designers, and |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | they may take great pride in the recognition they have earned from |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | their peers; now, therefore, be it |

| 38 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 39 | 39 | | Legislature hereby congratulate the staff of the Pasadena |

| 40 | 40 | | Independent School District Communications Department on the |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | awards they received from the Texas Schools Public Relations |
|---|
