5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Anne Acreman was honored by the Heritage of |

6 | 6 | | Odessa Foundation with a 2009 Community Statesman Award in |

7 | 7 | | recognition of her outstanding civic contributions; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Every year for the past quarter-century, the |
---|
9 | 9 | | Heritage of Odessa Foundation has paid tribute to individuals who |
---|
10 | 10 | | have excelled in their various fields and in their public service |
---|
11 | 11 | | endeavors; nominated by their fellow citizens and chosen by a |
---|
12 | 12 | | special committee, the 13 recipients have volunteered their time |
---|
13 | 13 | | and resources to support Odessa and its residents; in 2009, Dr. |
---|
14 | 14 | | Acreman was selected for this accolade in the category of service in |
---|
15 | 15 | | a profession; and |
---|
16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Raised in Odessa, Dr. Acreman graduated from Permian |
---|
17 | 17 | | High School, and she later earned a bachelor's degree from The |
---|
18 | 18 | | University of Texas of the Permian Basin and a medical degree from |
---|
19 | 19 | | The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston; she went on to |
---|
20 | 20 | | complete a family practice residency at John Peter Smith Hospital |
---|
21 | 21 | | in Fort Worth and was the first woman to serve as its chief |
---|
22 | 22 | | resident; on returning to Odessa, she served as the chief of staff |
---|
23 | 23 | | of the Odessa Regional Medical Center, and she was once again the |
---|
24 | 24 | | first female physician to hold such a position; Dr. Acreman is a |
---|
25 | 25 | | member of the Health Professions Advisory Committee and the |
---|
26 | 26 | | Development Board of UTPB, and she has twice been named Best |
---|
27 | 27 | | Physician by the Odessa American Readers' Poll; and |
---|
28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan has demonstrated an unwavering |
---|
29 | 29 | | commitment to the field of medicine and to the city of Odessa, and |
---|
30 | 30 | | her compassion and generosity are an inspiration to all who know |
---|
31 | 31 | | her; now, therefore, be it |
---|
32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

33 | 33 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Anne Acreman on her receipt of |
---|
34 | 34 | | a 2009 Community Statesman Award and extend to her sincere best |

35 | 35 | | wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further |
