| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Corpus Christi is playing host to the 2009 Pan |

| 6 | 6 | | American Golf Association National Tournament and Convention, |

| 7 | 7 | | which takes place July 27 through 31, 2009; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The crowning event of the PAGA schedule, the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | National Tournament and Convention returns to Corpus Christi this |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | season for the first time in more than 10 years, and the event is |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | especially meaningful for the host chapter; organized in 1951, the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Corpus Christi PAGA chapter is the second oldest in the association |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | and was founded just four years after the inaugural group in San |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Antonio; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, This year's National Tournament and Convention |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | includes a special tribute to the women who instituted the National |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Ladies Auxiliary; that group convened its first meeting in Corpus |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Christi in 1976, and its officers included president Maggie |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Cagigal, first vice president Viola Trujillo, second vice president |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Librada Torres, recording secretary Martha Rosas, corresponding |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | secretary Martha Espinoza, treasurer Aurora Romero, and historian |

| 22 | 22 | | Priscilla Torres; the 2009 national event also features special |

| 23 | 23 | | ceremonies in honor of the PAGA Hall of Fame inductees and the |

| 24 | 24 | | charter members of local PAGA chapters; and |

| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, A celebrated gathering of PAGA members from across |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | the country, the National Tournament and Convention is truly a |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | momentous occasion for this admirable organization, and it is a |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | pleasure to join the PAGA members and sponsors in recognizing the |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | event; now, therefore, be it |

| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 31 | 31 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the 2009 Pan American Golf |
