No. 1123 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The vitality of the culinary culture of Texas depends on the creativity and drive of innovative entrepreneurs, and one such individual is Lisa Wong of San Antonio, who has been a prominent figure in the city's restaurant business for the past three decades; and WHEREAS, A native of the Alamo City, Ms. Wong is the daughter of Isabel Sanchez and Samuel Wong, and her distinctive Chinese and Mexican heritage has informed her professional achievements; at the age of 13, she began her first kitchen job, which she held until graduating from Jefferson High School in 1981; shortly thereafter, she opened Lisa's Mexican Restaurant with the help of her parents and her brother, Richard; and WHEREAS, Learning her demanding trade from the ground up, this dynamic restaurateur took over Rosario's Caf y Cantina on South Alamo in 1992 and soon won a loyal local following; needing more space, she moved Rosario's in 1999 to a new location, where she has met with great success and built a winning philosophy that has enabled her to explore new opportunities and take on additional challenges; most recently, Ms. Wong opened Acenar on the San Antonio River Walk, and she is also a partner in the popular China Latina restaurant; and WHEREAS, Lisa Wong has contributed greatly to the dining experience in San Antonio, and she may indeed take justifiable pride in her achievements and in the pleasure she continues to bring to thousands of appreciative patrons each year; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby congratulate restaurateur Lisa Wong on her professional success and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Wong as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
