H.R. No. 1124 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Dr. Kaye E. Wilkins of San Antonio has received the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons' ninth annual Humanitarian Award; and WHEREAS, An internationally known professor of orthopedics at The University of Texas Health Science Center, Dr. Wilkins was honored for his generous contributions to the health and well-being of young people around the world; and WHEREAS, Dr. Wilkins began his charitable outreach by training high school and college students to administer vaccinations in Central and South America; in 1997, he helped launch Projecto Muzquiz, a rehabilitation program for disabled children in Muzquiz, Coahuila, Mexico; and WHEREAS, Through the years, he has shared his extensive knowledge with doctors in such countries as Haiti, Vietnam, Iraq, and Cuba, and his efforts have greatly benefited the health of children of many nationalities; and WHEREAS, Kaye Wilkins has dedicated his career to improving the lives of patients and teaching physicians around the globe, and his outstanding work has set an example to which all may aspire; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Kaye Wilkins on earning the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons' Humanitarian Award and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success in all of his endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Dr. Wilkins as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
