| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, San Antonio businessman Harvey Najim has been |

| 6 | 6 | | recognized both by the Chronicle of Philanthropy and by |

| 7 | 7 | | BusinessWeek magazine as one of the nation's top 50 |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | philanthropists; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The chair and CEO of Sirius Computer Solutions, this |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | caring and generous Texan is the founder of the Harvey E. Najim |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Family Foundation, which is dedicated to children's charities; he |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | created the foundation with a gift of $76.5 million in 2006; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Najim and the Najim Foundation have supported a |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | number of worthwhile efforts in behalf of children in the San |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Antonio area, including the Hill Country Youth Ranch, Respite Care |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | of San Antonio, Mission Road Ministries, Haven for Hope, Child |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Advocates San Antonio, and SAMMinistries, among many others; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Najim was included in the Chronicle of |

| 19 | 19 | | Philanthropy's "The Philanthropy 50" for 2007, and BusinessWeek |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | magazine placed him on its annual list of "The 50 Most Generous |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Philanthropists" in 2008; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, The children of Texas have benefited greatly from |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Mr. Najim's decision to share the wealth he has gained from his hard |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | work and good fortune, and it is most fitting that he receive |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | widespread recognition for his generosity and his commitment to the |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | youth of our state; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 28 | 28 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Harvey Najim on being recognized as |

| 29 | 29 | | one of the top philanthropists in the nation and extend to him |

| 30 | 30 | | sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
