5	5	WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Frank S.
6	6	Adams of Corpus Christi, who died on February 14, 2009, at the age
7	7	of 82; and
8	8	WHEREAS, Frank Adams was born in Oklahoma on January 29,
9	9	1927, to Lucille and Joyce B. Adams; he moved with his family to
10	10	Corpus Christi in 1937; and
11	11	WHEREAS, Following his graduation from Corpus Christi High
12	12	School in 1943, Mr. Adams attended Texas A&M University, where he
13	13	was a member of the Corps of Cadets; he later earned a degree in
14	14	banking from Southern Methodist University; and
15	15	WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty during World War
16	16	II, Mr. Adams served with the U.S. Navy in Guam; after the war, Mr.
17	17	Adams was joined in marriage to Lena Faye Gent in 1948, and over the
18	18	years they were blessed with two children, four grandchildren, and
19	19	two great-grandchildren; and
20	20	WHEREAS, Mr. Adams began his career in the used car business,
21	21	serving as the finance manager of Lewis Boggus Ford; he then went on
22	22	to a successful career in banking, working first with the Bank of
23	23	Commerce and then American Bank; and
24	24	WHEREAS, From 1971 to 1995, Mr. Adams was president of
25	25	American Bank, and he continued serving the institution as a member
26	26	of the board of directors until his retirement at age 80; he was an
27	27	energetic and competitive banker, affectionately known as
28	28	"Friendly Frank" to his colleagues and other associates; and
29	29	WHEREAS, Mr. Adams was also well known for the customer
30	30	service seminars he conducted across the state, and he made those
31	31	programs even more memorable by handing out silver dollars and
32	32	American flag lapel pins to participants; he further shared his
33	33	expertise by teaching at the Texas Tech University School of
34	34	Banking and by serving as president and director of the Independent
35	35	Bankers Association of Texas; and
36	36	WHEREAS, Despite his numerous professional responsibilities,
37	37	Mr. Adams was engaged in his community as a member of the Jaycees,
38	38	as an active member of All Saints Episcopal Church, and for many
39	39	years as a member of the Nueces County Parks Board; in his leisure
40	40	time, he enjoyed sharing stories with loved ones and fishing at his
41	41	second home in Boerne; and
42	42	WHEREAS, Frank Adams was well respected in his profession and
43	43	beloved by his family and friends, and the memory of his warm and
44	44	outgoing nature will forever be treasured by those whose lives he
45	45	touched; now, therefore, be it
46	46	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
47	47	Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Frank S. Adams and
48	48	extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his wife
49	49	of 60 years, Lena Faye Adams; to his son, Larry James Adams, and his
50	50	wife, Katy; to his daughter, Sandra Joyce Adams; to his grandsons,
51	51	Steven Craig Adams and his wife, Lise, David Patrick Adams and his
52	52	wife, Staci, Alan Thomas Adams and his wife, Jessica, and Jack Trent
53	53	Adams; to his great-grandchildren, Carter and Ellie Adams; and to
54	54	his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
55	55	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
56	56	prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
57	57	Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Frank S.
58	58	Adams.
